Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

MisterScholarship ("we", "us") helps students in the United States find scholarships and grants they qualify for. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we never sell your personal information, sensitive identity questions are always optional, and you can delete your account at any time.

Who can use MisterScholarship

MisterScholarship is intended for students who are 13 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our sign-up process asks for your birth date and blocks anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us at support@misterscholarship.com and we will delete it.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider), or basic profile details from Google if you sign in with Google.
  • Profile information you choose to provide: name, birth date, state and ZIP code, education level, graduation year, school, intended majors, GPA and test scores, citizenship status, activities and interests.
  • Optional background and identity information: household income range, Pell Grant eligibility, first-generation status, military connection, gender, ethnicity, disability status and LGBTQ+ identity. Every one of these questions is optional and includes "Prefer not to say".
  • Activity in the app: scholarships you save, their application status and any notes you write.
  • Scholarship submissions: if you list a scholarship, we collect your name and email so we can contact you about the listing.
  • Technical information: basic logs (such as IP address, browser type and error reports) that our hosting providers collect to keep the service secure and working.

How we use your information

  • To match you with scholarships and show whether you qualify.
  • To send the emails you've chosen, like deadline reminders and weekly new matches.
  • To run, secure, and improve the service and respond to your requests.

Identity and background fields are used only for matching. We do not share them with scholarship providers, advertisers, or anyone else, and we do not use them for advertising. Scholarship providers never receive your profile — when you apply, you do so directly on the provider's own website.

We never sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not show third-party ads.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted vendors to operate MisterScholarship — for example, cloud hosting and database services, and an email delivery service. They process information only on our behalf, under contract, and only as needed to provide their services to us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).

Emails and your choices

You can turn deadline reminders and weekly match emails on or off at any time on your Profile page, or by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. We'll still send essential account emails, such as sign-in and password reset messages.

Your rights and deleting your account

You can view and edit your profile at any time. You can permanently delete your account from the Profile page using "Delete my account". This removes your account, profile, saved scholarships, notes and email settings from our active systems. Limited copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period before being overwritten.

Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising (we do neither). To make a request, contact support@misterscholarship.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Students under 18 and parents

If you are under 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian. Parents or guardians who have questions, or who want to review or delete their teen's information, can contact us at support@misterscholarship.com.

Data retention

We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information as described above. Scholarship submission contact details are kept as long as the listing is under review or published.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls that limit who can see each piece of data, and secure password storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and let signed-in users know in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
